# Scheduling reports

> Set up a recurring cadence for a report type or custom template, and manage, pause or delete an existing schedule.

A schedule ties a report type, or a specific [custom report](/docs/reports/custom-reports)
template, to a recurring cadence, so the same report lands on your desk automatically without you
having to remember to regenerate it. Click **Schedule** next to a report group to create one.

## The schedule form

- **Frequency**: Hourly, Daily, Weekly or Monthly.
- **Time**: hidden for an hourly schedule, since it just runs every hour.
- **Day of week**: only shown for a weekly schedule.
- **Day of month**: only shown for a monthly schedule, from 1 to 28 (so every month has that day).
- **Email notification recipients when a new report is generated**: on by default.

Emails go to everyone currently listed in the project's **Notifications** settings. If there are
no valid recipients, or the report has no linked project, emails go to the organisation owner and
admins. Changes to Notifications apply to existing schedules automatically. Recipient lists
previously specified through the API no longer override these settings.

## Managing an existing schedule

Once a schedule exists, the report group shows a status badge (its frequency and next run date,
or **Paused** if it's disabled) with a menu to:

- **Edit schedule**: reopen the form above with the current values filled in.
- **Pause** or **Resume**: temporarily stop a schedule from running without deleting it.
- **Delete schedule**: remove it entirely. This cannot be undone.

## Plan requirements

Scheduling needs an eligible plan. On an eligible plan the button reads **Schedule**, with a
calendar icon. If your organisation doesn't qualify, it reads **Schedule this report** instead,
with a padlock and the hint "Regenerates weekly or monthly." underneath. Clicking it opens a
dialog explaining that report scheduling requires a Flowboost subscription, with a link to the plan
page. A schedule created before a downgrade stays visible and can still be paused or deleted. Only
creating a new schedule, or resuming a paused one, requires the plan, so **Edit schedule** and
**Resume** show the same padlock and open the same dialog.
