# Keyword Labelizer script

> A standalone Google Ads script that buckets keywords and search terms by performance. Not the in-app Labelizer feature.

> **Looking for the Labelizer app?** This page covers the standalone _Keyword Labelizer_ script, a
> spreadsheet tool you run from Google Ads. It shares its name and bucket terminology with the
> in-app [Labelizer](/docs/labelizer/labelizer) feature, but they are separate tools: Labelizer manages
> your Merchant Center feed through projects and scheduled runs, this is a one-off script. Both fill
> the buckets by comparing performance to your target, this one for keywords and search terms.

The Flowboost Keyword Labelizer helps you quickly see which keywords and search terms are winning,
which are close and which are dragging down performance. It groups everything into the same
Flowboost buckets used elsewhere: over-index, index, near-index, under-index and no-index.

## What this script does for you

The script connects your Google Ads account to a ready-made Google Sheets template. When you run
it, it:

- Pulls performance data for your keywords and search terms over a recent period.
- Benchmarks that data against your ROAS or CPA targets.
- Automatically assigns each item to a Flowboost bucket based on those targets and traffic volume.
- Writes all results into the spreadsheet for a clean, structured overview.

You decide whether to work with ROAS or CPA, and you control how strict the buckets are by setting
your own targets and sensitivity.

## What you will see in the spreadsheet

### Config

Set your preferences: which campaigns to include based on a label in Google Ads, how many days of
data to use, conversion lag to account for delayed conversions, ROAS or CPA targets, whether to
bucket on ROAS or CPA, how big a performance difference must be before something counts as
over-index or under-index and how much traffic a keyword or term needs before it can be judged
properly.

### Keyword Feed

Lists all your eligible keywords with their key performance metrics and assigned Flowboost bucket,
so you can see which keywords are strongly outperforming your targets, on target, close to target
or underperforming (or lack enough data).

### Search Terms

Shows your search terms, aggregated across campaigns and ad groups. Each term gets performance
stats (impressions, clicks, cost, conversions, value), calculated metrics (CPC, CTR, conversion
rate, CPA, ROAS) and a single Flowboost bucket so you can quickly see which queries to scale,
protect or cut.

Both Keyword Feed and Search Terms are sorted in a structured way, making it easy to filter and
build actions from.

## How it helps you in daily work

With the Keyword Labelizer you can spot over-performing keywords and search terms to scale budgets
or duplicate into new structures, find near-index items that need a small push in bids or budgets,
identify under-index elements that should be optimized, paused or moved and quickly understand
where your traffic sits relative to your ROAS or CPA goals. Performance buckets are also easy to
share with team members or clients straight from the spreadsheet.

The script respects your campaign filters: if you only want to analyze campaigns with a specific
label, set that in the Config tab to keep your view clean and focused.

## Versions

- **Version 1.1**: the original release, covering keyword and search term bucketing.
- **Version 2.0**: the current version. Adds a Bucket Velocity Tracker, which shows how items move between buckets across reporting periods, and a Themed Campaign Builder for your over-index search terms.

Upgrading from 1.x to 2.0 needs the new spreadsheet template linked in the script, not your existing
sheet. One purchase gives you access to all current and future versions of this script.

## Best practices

- Use consistent ROAS or CPA targets aligned with your business goals.
- Run the script on a regular cadence so you can track how buckets change over time.
- Use the buckets to guide campaign actions instead of manually checking every metric.
- Combine the Search Terms tab with negative keyword management and themed campaign builds.

See also the [Product Labelizer script](/docs/google-ads-scripts/flowboost-product-labelizer), which uses the
same bucket system for products. For what the bucket names mean and how your target, margin and
traffic settings decide which one something lands in, see
[How Labelizer decides each bucket](/docs/labelizer/how-labelizer-decides-each-bucket). That page is
written for the Labelizer app and its products, but the bucket names carry the same meaning here and
your target, margin and traffic settings play the same role.
